Privacy policies are the easiest to write and the hardest to honour. We have made a choice that keeps ours simple: we believe the best way to protect data is not to collect it in the first place.

The principle of minimal data
This site exists to be useful to you, not to identify you. Reading the content and using the tools requires no account, no registration and no personal details. Data we never collect cannot be lost, leaked or misused; so our first question is always "do we have to collect this?", and the answer is almost always no.
Your tool data stays in your browser
Values you enter into our calculators, such as height, weight or age, are not transmitted to our servers; all calculations run on your device, inside your browser. If a tool remembers your results for your next visit, that information lives only in your browser's local storage (localStorage). We cannot access it; you can erase it at any moment by clearing your browser's site data. Details of how the tools work are in our Calculator and Tool Methodology.
Analytics and cookies
To improve the site we want to know which pages are read; that does not require following people around. We keep analytics minimal: the aim is to see overall usage patterns, not to build profiles of individual visitors. We use no advertising trackers, we share no visit data with ad networks, and we sell data to no one. This approach also matches the site's current state of carrying no advertising; our commitments on that front are written in the Advertising and Conflicts Policy.
Your questions and your rights
You are welcome to ask anything about our approach to data; if something here is unclear, that is our failing and we want to fix it. Your legal rights regarding personal data remain intact in full. If some exceptional feature ever does require collecting data, we will say so clearly at the point of collection and explain the purpose. We promise not to start collecting data silently: a data practice not written in this policy does not exist on this site.
A working version
This policy is a working version. If anything about how the site handles data changes, this page will be updated before the change goes live. Your questions and criticism about privacy are the most reliable audit this page can have.
